Summer Camps on the Farm: Hands-On Fun for Kids Across North Carolina

Farm-based summer camps are growing in popularity across North Carolina. They’re offering a fun, screen-free option for families looking to keep kids active and learning this summer.

If you’re juggling work while the kids are on summer break (we get it), finding something active, local, and enriching can make all the difference. That’s where our state’s agritourism farms come in.

Farms across the state are hosting summer camps that give kids the chance to explore nature, care for animals, get their hands dirty in the garden, and spend time outside — away from screens and in tune with the land.

Whether your child loves animals, crafts, or simply running around outdoors, there’s likely a camp nearby that still has space.

What to Expect

Each farm offers something different. Most include:

  • Animal interactions, and gardening

  • Creative outdoor activities

  • Simple lessons in sustainability

  • A safe place to build confidence and explore
