From student field trips to working farm tours, this list can be adapted to fit your family. Spend a day or two exploring the tours and trails of Franklin County! Fall Trail Walks (no fee!) are beginning around the second week of October.

The Vollmer Farm
The Mullen-Vollmer Farm is a 5th generation working family farm. We are focused on producing wholesome produce as well as providing a genuine “Real Farm” experience. Come browse our farm market and pick your own products available seasonally. Pick you own products available seasonally. Pick your own flowers are ready mid-May. We have a children’s play area behind the market for the little ones. We use all sustainable farming.

Tar River Life
Tar River Life is a new outdoor recreational facility located in Bunn, NC. We offer kayaking, paddle boarding, and inner tube floating on the Tar River in Franklin County, NC. We also offer campsites right along the river available by reservation.

First Fruits Farm
The founders of First Fruits Farm are Jason and Tay Brown. Jason was a former NFL Lineman, playing for the Baltimore Ravens and St. Louis Rams. The farm grows, produces, and raises cows and chickens for donation to local food banks and soup kitchens. Our produce is not for sale but we have volunteers come out to help harvest produce for donation to local food banks!

Soggy Dog Farm
We are a family farm that raises dairy goats, cows, pigs, laying hens, and broilers. We keep our herds small so we can focus on happy, healthy animals to produce the highest quality meat, dairy, and eggs. We offer farm visits by appointment and delivery to Raleigh and Goldsboro.

Big October Homestead, LLC
A family-owned small farm that began out of a pursuit of natural, healthy living. Todd and Jennifer Baker provide the community with pasture raised chickens, eggs, handmade decor and gifts. Tours are available by appointment.
